Crested Butte Community School, part of Gunnison Watershed School District, provides K-12 education to students in the Crested Butte Community. Built in 1997 with an expansion in 2009, the school is located at 818 Red Lady Avenue and is the first building you see as you enter the town of Crested Butte. The school consistently ranks among the highest academically in Colorado with a 98% graduation rate. Go Titans!
Crested Butte Community School offers a resort town experience with ski for PE, Nordic skiing, enrichment programs such as chess, Lego and art clubs. They have community partnerships with Mountain Roots which teaches students about cooking, gardening, and nutrition as well as Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory which provides hands-on, authentic science experiments in the community.
If your little ones are not yet in grade school, Crested Butte also has preschools available however the demand is high. Paradise Place is in the town of Crested Butte and offers classes for ages 1-5 years old. Little Red Schoolhouse is in Crested Butte South and accepts children as young as 3 months – 5 years old.
