101 Pyramid

5 Bedrooms | 7 Total Baths | 6,141 Sq Ft | $8,100,000

What would you call being nestled in one of the highest elevations in Crested Butte, a stones-throw from the Slate River, surrounded on all sides by heart-stopping mountain views, and waking every day in a home architecturally crafted to bring the outdoors in and life itself to the pinnacle of comfort and beauty?

Paradise, perhaps. You can also call it 101 Pyramid Avenue, Crested Butte.

Why lot 1?

Lot 1 had the opportunity for the best views with its elevation, especially Paradise Divide from the kitchen! The closer proximity to town and rec path, especially in winter (we were debating between Lots 9 and 1). We loved the opportunity to see the river and any activity. The Pavilion right across the street with river launch access. Thankfully, our realtor was helpful in our decision to choose the best lot. :) — Homeowners

What is your favorite room in the house?

Kitchen for its view of Paradise Divide! Love most its openness, views from everywhere, walkability to downtown for coffee, restaurants. The custom features of the steel channeling in the timbers and the deck with its view of Mt. Crested Butte.

What was your inspiration for the overall design?

I wanted something different from everything you saw in town, and the ‘modern mountain’ style is super functional but also warm and inviting. I wanted to walk in the house and still feel like I was outside, hence all the glass and windows. The large open concept for the kitchen/living room/deck allows for everyone to be together but not crowded, and it’s great for entertaining. I also planned to have a shuffleboard on the south living room wall.

How did you select the architect and builder?

We wanted to use local people who knew the area and weather and environment best as well as keep the local community invested. We interviewed 4 architects and 5 builders. We chose the ones to interview based on research I did online, and I used Mountain Living and Colorado Homes magazines for their names and works. We really did our due diligence with choosing both. We also wanted to make certain they could work well together.
